Part-time Distribution Assistant

Women Make Movies (WMM) is seeking an organized and detail oriented part-time distribution assistant to work 16-20 hours/week. This administrative position affords a great opportunity to learn about the field of independent film as well as nonprofit arts management. The Distribution Assistant (DA) is responsible for all customer service relations, booking orders and administrative tasks in the Distribution Department.

Women Make Movies, founded in 1972, is a non-profit feminist media arts organization dedicated to the production, distribution and exhibition of films and videotapes by and about women. A multi-racial, multicultural organization, Women Make Movies provide production and educational assistance through services such as workshops and seminars, a media resource center, a production assistance program and an internationally recognized distribution service. Specific responsibilities include:

Orders & Customer Service – Booking all orders including, following-up on incomplete orders and shipping/billing issues, assisting with customer correspondence by phone/email related to order status, invoices, etc. and file maintenance.

Inventory – Run inventory order reports and complete all purchase orders for inventory. Preparing inventory request form and POs; matching bills. Maintain in-house inventory.

Assist with maintenance of marketing collateral, including print and online media.

Manage and maintain email lists.

Requirements & Expectations:

*General administrative office experience, including data entry
*Superb attention to detail and excellent prioritization, organizational and communication skills
*Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment, self-starter, and team player
*Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
*Ideal candidates will be proficient in multimedia programs such as Photoshop, Handbrake, I-Movie, Final Cut Pro
*Ideal candidates will have basic editing knowledge and understanding of compression and exporting for the web
*Commitment to feminist film and Women Make Movies required
*Sense of humor a must

Qualifications & Time Commitment

Qualified candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills; strong organizational skills; the ability to multi-task, work independently and work well under pressure; and will take initiative. Familiarity with Internet research, Windows XP and the Microsoft Office Suite necessary. Knowledge of and interest in feminist media a plus.

Interns are asked to work a minimum of 15 hours per week during the school year and 24 hours per week in the summer. Duration is flexible to meet university requirements, but a minimum commitment of three months is optimal. All interns will be required to sign an Internship Letter of Agreement that outlines the duration and schedule of their internship.
