Karoline Frogner
Karoline Frogner (born in 1961) was educated as a photographer, and has worked with both film and stills photography. Since the beginning of the 1990's she has also directed several films:
"Asil" (30 minutes, 16 mm): A film about a dyslectic girl, who has problems with learning to read. She has also written a children's book based upon the same story (Glydenal 1994)
"Whistling Not Allowed" (6 minutes, 16 mm): A short film about Norwegian girls who dated German soldiers during World War 2.
She was also both Director and Director of Photography on the following films:
"Women And Children First" (30 minutes, 16 mm): A film about Palestinian and Curdic women and children.
"God Bless The Child" (8 minutes, Beta): Attended at several international film festivals and sold to television both in Denmark and Norway.
"A Portrait Of Anja Breien" (45 minutes, Beta): A film about the director Anja Breien, and her work with the film "The Jewel Thief".
"U": An NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corp.) youth production. Karoline Grogner made several short cuts for the program.
Karoline Grogner has also been working as a press photographer. Her engagement and interest for people who suffer at war, made her go to the Middle East in 1991. During her stay, she experienced the cruelty and horror of war, and how it influenced the children. She made two books based on her experiences called "The Intifada Children" (1991), and "A Suffering Without Borderlines" about Curdish refugees (1992).
Her latest film "Times of Darkness" (women's encounter with Nazism) is based upon interviews with 10 women who suffered from imprisonment during World War 2. The interviews has also been released in a book, written by Karoline Frogner (1995). 90 minutes, 35 mm.
