Lena Carr
Filmmaker and playwright Lena Carr lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her work has been funded by grants from the Corporation of Public Broadcasting and Native American Public Telecommunications. In 1996 Carr won the Outstanding Historical Program Emmy Award for her documentary War Code: Navajo, produced by National Geographic. Carr is fluent in the Navajo language. Her films have portrayed the significance of cultural traditions for contemporary Navajo, especially young people. She received an MA in Psychology at the University of New Mexico. Carr grew up on the Navajo Reservation-near Steamboat, Arizona-and in Morenci, Arizona. (7/07
