Amit Breuer
Amit Breuer is the Managing Director and Founder of the Amythos Films, and the Producer of Sentenced to Marriage. Born in Israel where she grew up, Amit received her B.A. in Art and General History from Tel Aviv University and a graduate degree in Film and Television studies from Beit Zvi School. Since 1990 she has been an active international documentary film producer and director. Her films include: Testimonies, St. Jean and The Specialist. In 1997 Amit founded the Original Programming Department for Channel 8, Noga Communications which she managed until 2001. From 2001 – 2004 Breuer curated the annual TV Europa event and was invited to participate in major international festivals including the Jury for the Joris Ivens competition at IDFA in 2001.
Amythos Films, an independent documentary production company, was established in Israel in 1993 and in 2004 moved its head offices to Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Films produced by Amythos Films have screened at film festivals around the world and have garnered numerous awards including three Israeli Academy Awards for the films St Jean (1993), Baba Luba (1995) and Pick Up a Card (1997); the Doc Aviv Best film Award for Sumud (2001); the Joris Ivens Award for Checkpoint (2003) and the prestigious "Golden Fipa" award for Purity (2003) by Anat Zuria.
