Sophie Bissonnette
Raised in Ottawa, Sophie Bissonnette studied film and sociology at Queen's University in Kingston, graduating in 1978 with a bachelor of arts.
Bissonnette has been making documentaries on social solidarity and women's issues for thirty years. Her first film, A WIVE’S TALE (1980), won an award from the Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma. Next came QUEL NUMERO/WHAT NUMBER (1985), L’AMOUR A QUEL PRIX? (1989) and A VISION IN THE DARKNESS (1990), which garnered three awards. She then went on to direct THE GLASS CEILING (1992), PRES DE NOUS (1997), A SCORE FOR WOMEN’S VOICES (2001) and MADELEINE PARENT, TISSERANDE DE SOLIDARITES (2002). (07/12)
