Terra Nullius
Australia, 1992, 21 minutes, Color/BW, VHS/16mm
Order No. W99064
TERRA NULLIUS evolved as part of a response by a generation of Australian Aborigines to the government’s assimilationist policies which removed children from their families and placed them with white foster families. In this evocative and impressionistic drama a young Aboriginal girl is shown absorbing the fear, shame and incestuous abuse of her adoptive white parents. TERRA NULLIUS is a powerful and unforgettable film about the connections between racial and sexual violence and the social effects of cultural genocide.
