From Danger to Dignity
The Fight for Safe Abortion
A film by Dorothy Fadiman, Daniel Meyers and Beth Seltzer
1995, 57 minutes, Color, VHS/16mm
Order No. W99472

This eye-opening documentary chronicles the double-pronged movement-the grassroots activism and intensive legislative lobbying- that culminated in Roe v. Wade. Rare footage and interviews with movement participants are intercut with women's shared recollections of back-alley or self-induced abortions. Directed by Oscar nominee Fadiman, the film honors those who broke the silence, saved women's lives and fought to end the shame surrounding abortion when it was a crime. Produced in association with KTEH-TV.

Available as part of the series, "From the Back-Alleys to the Supreme Court and Beyond" (Video Sale $295, Order # 99591).
