The Secrets of Successful Proposals
Wednesday, April 16 | 6:30 – 8:00PM

Join us for an essential evening of grant-writing how-to’s.
Topics include: identifying a proposal’s 13 elements, writing an effective synopsis, approaching the best funders, and avoiding common mistakes. Successful proposals will be passed out and discussed: attendees are encouraged to bring copies of their current proposal drafts for peer feedback. Don’t miss this opportunity to improve your skills and take the intimidation out of grant-writing!  Presented by Michelle Materre, fundraising and grant-writing consultant.



Your Fundraising Blueprint: Designing a Strategy That's
Right for Your Project

Wednesday, April 23 | 6:30 – 8:30PM

Don’t miss this nuts-and-bolts discussion on how to design your project’s fundraising planfrom traditional grant-seeking from private and government foundations to appealing to individual donors through events and direct mail campaigns. Topics include: components of a proposal, pitching to donors, writing appeal letters, and more. This workshop provides essential steps toward understanding the many approaches to raising money for a project, and informs how to best determine what’s right for you. Presented by Tracie Holder, filmmaker, fundraiser and consultant to WMM.



From Festivals to Cinemas to Broadcast to Digital: Surveying Your Distribution Options
Wednesday, April 30 | 6:30 – 8:00PM

Knowing your options for distribution and establishing a clear set of goals for your film—as early as the pre-production phase—are essential for your film’s success. This workshop presents how to explore the different markets (i.e. theatrical, educational, broadcast, home video, public screenings) and determine the right fit. Topics include: developing the public image of your film; navigating the film festival circuit; pitching to buyers; and negotiating contracts. An essential workshop for any filmmaker who wants their work to be seen! Presented by WMM Executive Director, Debra Zimmerman.

WMM Filmmaker Discount - Special half price discount rates are available to filmmakers from our Fiscal Sponsorship Program and Students. Special rate can only be used for one workshop per season.

WMM Friends are individuals who donate at least $50 per year to the organization.

Refund Policy

No refunds will be given for any registrations.  If you are unable to make the workshop but notify us up to 24 hours prior to the actual workshop date, you may receive a credit for another workshop within one year. Workshops may be cancelled by WMM due to insufficient enrollment. All instructors are subject to change.
