COMING TO A TV NEAR YOU! 6 WMM FILMS ON TV IN THE US THIS SUMMER

Think there's nothing good on TV? Think again! WMM is excited to announce July and August TV broadcasts of the following films:

GOD SLEEPS IN RWANDA on HBO
Academy AwardŽ Nominee and recent winner of Urbanworld Film Festival's Best Doc Short Award, GOD SLEEPS IN RWANDA is an inspiring story of loss and redemption, capturing the spirit of five courageous women as they rebuild their lives after the Rwandan Genocide.

FAR FROM HOME on WGBH, Boston
A moving story of one girl’s life-long experience with busing, this compelling film highlights the important issues of civil rights and racial integration in public schools today.

QUICK BROWN FOX, AN ALZHEIMER’S STORY on KCTS, Seattle.
This emotionally intense Emmy-nominated film is a personal quest to understand Alzheimer's disease as it ravages the filmmaker's once-vibrant 60-year-old mother.

KEEP NOT SILENT on The Sundance Channel
Winner of the Israeli Oscar for Best Documentary this chilling film explores the struggle of Orthodox Jewish lesbians fighting between faith and sexual identity.

NALINI BY DAY, NANCY BY NIGHT on WYBE, Philadelphia
This fascinating doc explores complex issues of capitalism and identity through a witty and personal account of the filmmaker’s journey into India’s call centers.

SUMMER OF THE SERPENT on The Sundance Channel
Tender and beautifully hypnotic, SUMMER OF THE SERPENT raises provocative questions about difference and desire while artfully exploring representations of Asians on film.

WOMEN'S SHELTER IN AFRICA NAMED AFTER RAPE SURVIVOR FEATURED IN DOC
THE MAN WHO STOLE MY MOTHER’S FACE

On June 9th, The House of Laura Henkel opened in Monrovia, becoming the first safe haven in Liberia for women and children who have suffered rape and domestic violence. The Liberia Crisis Centre for Abused Women and Children chose to name this shelter after Laura Henkel, a victim of a brutal rape in Johannesburg whose inspiring personal story is described in the gripping film, THE MAN WHO STOLE MY MOTHER’S FACE. Over 1000 women and children who have suffered some form of sexual violence are expected to access the shelter and its services each year.

The award-winning doc chronicling filmmaker Cathy Henkel's search for justice for her mother will be screened at the Centre during their “16 Days of Activism Campaign for Eliminating Violence Against Women and Children.” THE MAN WHO STOLE MY MOTHER'S FACE is also screening on the Sundance Channel.
