WMM AT INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL,
AMSTERDAM (IDFA)
WMM is pleased that films from our Production Assistance program will be
featured at the
International Documentary Film Festival, Amsterdam (IDFA).
New Year Baby, an ITVS-sponsored film by Socheata Poeuv, is one of 17 debut films by
emerging filmmakers chosen for the First Appearances competition of the
festival. The latest documentary from WMM filmmaker
Jennifer Fox (BEIRUT:
THE LAST HOME MOVIE), Flying, Confessions of a Free Woman, funded by a
host of European broadcasters including the BBC, is screening in the Reflecting
Images, Masters section. In addition, Shailly Agnihotri will be participating in IDFA's
Docs for Sale with her project, Three Soldiers.
We are also happy to note that the latest from
THE LADIES ROOM
filmmaker Mahnaz Afzali, Red Card, will be screening as part of the Joris Ivens
Competition.
Executive Director Debra Zimmerman and Theatrical and International Broadcast Sales Manager

SISTERS IN LAW UK BROADCAST GARNERS HIGH PRAISE FROM VIEWERS
On October 11,
SISTERS IN LAW had
its broadcast premiere on the U.K. channel More4. Hailed by viewers as
"enlightening" and "inspiring," the film provoked an incredible response among viewers.

MAID IN AMERICA NOMINATED FOR NALIP AWARD
We are exited to announce that
MAID IN AMERICA by Anayansi Prado has
recently been
nominated for the 2007 Estela Filmmaker Award from
the National Association of Latino Independent Producers along with A Otro Lado by Natalia Almada,
a film in our Production Assistance Program. The Estela honors two
talented Latino filmmakers with a cash award of $7500 to each winning filmmaker.
