New Release from WMM!
Maid in America
by Anayansi Prado

"Tough-minded, emotional
and exceptionally lucid...
this eye-opening film triumphantly
gives Latina domestic workers
a face and a voice."
- Fernando
F. Croce, Cinequest
Three years in the making, Anayansi Prado's
poignant and powerful new documentary tells the story of three Latina women who
work as housekeepers and nannies in Los Angeles, just a few of the more than
100,000 immigrants from Latin America working in LA today.
This crowd-pleasing doc premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival, prompted an
added second screening at the Los Angeles Film Festival and screened recently at
the Newark Latino Festival. With
exceptional sensitivity, MAID IN AMERICA
reveals the diverse struggles, triumphs and aspirations of three domestic
workers and presents a complex portrait of the immigrant experience.

I
Wonder What You Will Remember of September by
Cecilia Cornejo
In this haunting short, Cecilia Cornejo, a Chilean citizen living in the U.S.
presents her personal response to the events of September 11, 2001. Shaped in
large part by her parents’ recollections of the Chilean coup on September 11,
1973 and conversations with her own young daughter post-9/11, she offers a
striking new context with which to view the World Trade Center attacks.
La
Cueca Sola by Marilu Mallet
This multiple award-winning doc features interviews with five women who lost
fathers, sons, husbands and friends during the brutal dictatorship of Augusto
Pinochet. The film paints a vivid portrait of the country's past and the
courageous work toward democracy being carried out today.
