National Tour of Festival Fave
Troop 1500: Girl Scouts Beyond Bars

Now Available for Booking!

Their mothers may be convicted thieves, murderers and drug dealers,
but the girls of Troop 1500 want to be doctors, social workers and
marine biologists.

An audience hit since its hometown US Premiere at Austin's South by Southwest Film Festival, TROOP 1500 has enjoyed screeni
ngs at the Dallas Video Festival, Woodstock Film Festival and the Mill Valley Film Festival. This powerful film highlights the work of the ground-breaking Girl Scouts' Beyond Bars program that strives to end the cycle of crime within families by keeping bonds between mothers and daughters intact.
WMM is proud to partner with Girls Scouts USA (GSUSA) to continue to tour this popular film at a variety of venues including festivals nationwide and an upcoming run at Austin's Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

Join the tour!
Women Make Movies is working with a select number of sites to join us in this exciting collaboration. For example, the Milwaukee International Film Festival is working with their local Girls Scouts' Bonds Beyond Bars program, offering a satellite screening of TROOP 1500 at the Ellsworth Correctional Center in conjunction with the festival screenings. WMM is thrilled that the film community has rallied around this exciting campaign and hopes this will serve as a model for other collaborations.

Spring Broadcast on Independent Lens
Between now and its national broadcast later this spring on the award-winning public television series Independent Lens, WMM is booking TROOP 1500 at venues nationwide. Don't miss your opportunity to join the tour! To book a screening now, contact Christie George at cgeorge@wmm.com.

About The Film
Meeting once a month at Hilltop Prison in Gatesville, Texas, this unique Girl Scout troop brings daughters together with their inmate mothers—offering them a chance to rebuild their broken relationships. TROOP 1500 poignantly reveals how an inspired yet controversial effort by the more than 90-year old Girl Scouts organization is working to help these at-risk young girls deal with their unique circumstances.
