Rosanna Yamagiwa Alfaro

Rosana Yamagiwa Alfaro was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts with her husband and children. She received her BA at Radcliffe College and her MA from the University of California, Berkeley and began her writing career in the mid-1970s with short stories, switching to plays by 1980. She has written about 40 plays. Though she continues to publish her short works and poems, Alfaro’s creative output in the last years has focused on drama. In 1992 she wrote, narrated, and co-produced the thirty-minute documentary JAPANESE AMERICAN WOMEN: A SENSE OF PLACE, which was included in the Smithsonian Institute’s traveling exhibition, "Strength and Diversity, Japanese American Women 1885-1990."
