The 2025 BlackStar Film Festival begins July 31st and four films made with the support of WMM’s Production Assistance Program are screening:
- THE SHADOW SCHOLARS – Directed by Eloise King
- SEEDS – Directed by Brittany Shyne
- KANENON:WE (ORIGINAL SEEDS) – Directed by Katsitsionni Fox
- EXODUS – Directed by Nimco Sheikhaden
SUN RA: DO THE IMPOSSIBLE directed by PA Alum Christine Turner and COMPENSATION directed by WMM filmmaker Zeinabu Irene Davis are also screening.
BlackStar’s 14th edition will run from July 31–August 3, with screenings held at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Wilma Theater, and the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. Events and parties will take place across Philadelphia, with 92 films from 35 countries represented.
