FANNIE LOU HAMER’S AMERICA Wins at the IDA Awards

WMM release FANNIE LOU HAMER’S AMERICA (dir. Joy Davenport, prod. Monica Land) took home the Best TV Feature Documentary or miniseries at the 38th IDA Awards held this past weekend!

FANNIE LOU HAMER’S AMERICA explores and celebrates Hamer, a lesser-known Civil Rights hero and founder of the Freedom Democratic Party in Mississippi. As the organizer of Freedom Summer, a volunteer-based campaign launched in the summer of 1964 to register as many Black voters in Mississippi as possible, Fannie Lou Hamer was a tireless advocate for justice.

Congratulations to the film team on this monumental win! To see the list of the 9 WMM nominations at this year’s IDA Awards click here.
