REBEL DYKES Featured in PinkNews During Lesbian Visibility Week

WMM release REBEL DYKES (dir. Harri Shanahan, Siân A. Williams) is being spotlighted by PinkNews — the world’s most-read LGBTQ+ publisher — as part of this year’s Lesbian Visibility Week. The feature comes at a critical moment, following the UK Supreme Court’s ruling that defines “woman” solely by biological sex, a move that many LGBTQ+ advocates have condemned as regressive and exclusionary.

REBEL DYKES offers a vibrant counterpoint to that narrative. Set in 1980s London, the film chronicles a close-knit group of lesbian friends who met at Greenham Common peace camp and went on to create radical art, music, and protest movements. From squats to punk shows, anti-Thatcher rallies to BDSM clubs, the film is a raucous blend of animation, archival footage, and first-person interviews — documenting the fierce joy, resistance, and chosen families that defined a movement.

REBEL DYKES is a bold reminder of what it means to live authentically and fight back, and its inclusion in PinkNews during this political moment couldn’t be more timely.  Read the article in PinkNews here.
