We are excited to announce that SIX films supported through the Women Make Movies Production Assistance Program will have their world premieres, all of them in competition, at CPH:DOX 2026 — taking place March 11–22, 2026!
Program films Daughters of the Forest (dir. Otilia Portillo, prod. Paula Arroio, Elena Fortes); THE SANDBOX (dir. Kenya-Jade Pinto, prod. Shasha Nakhai, Kenya-Jade Pinto); The Cord (dir. Nolwenn Hervé, prod. Estelle Robin You); and Whispers in May (dir. Dongnan Chen, prod. Jia Zhao) will together make up a full third of the films premiering in competition for the DOX:AWARD. WHERE THE SILENCE IS HEARD (dir. Gabriela Pena & Picho García, prod. Picho García, Gabriela Pena, Gabriela Sandoval, Efthymia Zymvragaki) will be premiering in competition for the NEXT:WAVE Award. And the Phantom Pain of Rojava (dir. Maryam Embrahimi, prod. Stina Gardell, Kristine Ann Skaret) will premiere in competition for the Human Rights Award. The AMERICAN DOCTOR (dir. Poh Si Teng, prod. Kirstine Barfod, Poh Si Teng, Reem Haddad, Simon Kilmurry, Hamza Ali, Mohammed Sawwaf), fresh off its world premiere at Sundance, will have its International Premiere at CPH and will also be in competition for the Human Rights Award. Additionally, program film To Hold a Mountain (dir./prod. Biljana Tutorov & Petar Glomazić) will have its European Premiere.
Four Production Assistance Films will pitch in the Forum including: Don’t Let the Sun Go Up on Me (dir. Asmae El Moudir, prod. Asmae El Moudir, Emma Lepers, Monica Hellström); War on Women (dir. Maris Salumets, prod. Maris Salumets, Elina Litvinova, Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan, Elena Martín, Volia Chajkouskaya, Gregor Streiber); We Are Volcanoes (dir. Sharon Yeung & Natalie Chao, prod. Jillian Schlesinger); and Queens’ Ballroom (dir. Hansen Lin & Siyi Chen, prod. Siyi Chen, Hansen Lin, Clara Vuillermoz, Laurence Buelens).
A shoutout to WMM filmmakers and alums Maite Alberdi, Joslyn Barnes, Lauren DeFilippo, Helle Faber, Kathryn Ferguson, Alisa Kovalenko, Katrine Philip, Christine Turner, and Estelle Robin You, who have new films pitching and premiering at the festival.
