We’re excited to announce that LIKE MAGIC (dir. Melissa Saavedra Gil), made with the support of the WMM Production Assistance Program, will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). In her debut feature film, Columbian filmmaker Melissa Saavedra Gil transforms a childhood tragedy into a powerful exploration of memory, truth, and healing. We are also thrilled that TIFF’s 2026 Documentary Program Opening Night Film — RAPINOE — is directed by program alum Rebecca Hunt (dir. BEBA, which was supported by our program and premiered at TIFF in 2021). Also having world premieres at TIFF are new films from program alum Lacey Schwartz Delgado (RE/PAIR) and Sophie Deraspe (THE FINAL ACT).
We are pleased that films from PA alum Laura Poitras (THEY’RE HERE) and Julia Loktev (MY UNDESIRABLE FRIENDS: PART II – EXILE) will have their NY premieres at the New York Film Festival. The 4K restoration of NITRATE KISSES, a revival work of WMM filmmaker Barbara Hammer, will have its world premiere. And a short we love, A WOMAN’S PLACE IS EVERYWHERE (dir. WMM filmmaker Fanny Texier), which won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, will have its U.S. Premiere at the New York Film Festival (NYFF). Texier recently participated in the inaugural year of our mentoring program with her film MY COLOR, which is being made with the support of the WMM Production Assistance Program.
