On Wednesday, June 18 from 8–9 PM ET, Women Make Movies invites you to a special Juneteenth program: WOMEN IN POWER, POLITICS, AND MEDIA, a virtual conversation celebrating the contributions of Black women to political leadership and cultural discourse.
This free, public event features actress Christina Jackson, who portrayed Barbara Lee in Netflix’s SHIRLEY, in conversation with award-winning filmmaker Abby Ginzberg, director of BARBARA LEE: SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER, a WMM release and NAACP Image Award-winning documentary.
Attendees will also see an exclusive preview of SHE DARED TO DREAM, an upcoming documentary about Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, whose work continues a long tradition of Black women reshaping public service and policy.
Co-sponsored by Higher Heights, the program honors the vision, courage, and impact of Black women leading across movements and media.
