We are thrilled to announce that 12 films and filmmakers, supported by WMMs Production Assistance Program, will be featured at the 38th International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), taking place November 12–24, 2025.
From our Production Assistance Program, three films are screening in International Competition: MAILIN (dir. María Silvia Esteve, World Premiere), FLOOD (dir. Katy Scoggin, International Premiere), and FLANA (dir. Zahraa Ghandour, European Premiere). OUR BODY IS AN EXPANDING STAR (dirs. Semillites Hernández Velasco, Tania Hernández) will have its World Premiere in Envision Competition, while THE WOMAN WHO POKED THE LEOPARD (dir. Patience Nitumwesiga) screens in Frontlight as an International Premiere.
Other PA films include COEXISTENCE, MY ASS! (dir. Amber Fares), HOW TO BUILD A LIBRARY (dirs. Maia Lekow, Christopher King), and SEEDS (dir. Brittany Shyne), all making their Dutch Premieres in Best of Fests, with HOW TO BUILD A LIBRARY also featured in Dead Angle: Institutions. PRIDE OF PLACE, a 1976 film co-directed by longtime WMM distribution filmmaker Kim Longinotto, will also screen in the Dead Angle: Institutions program.
Four PA alumni films are also part of the lineup: STEAL THIS STORY, PLEASE! (dirs. Carl Deal, Tia Lessin) and TRUE NORTH (dir. Michèle Stephenson, whose film STATELESS is also distributed by WMM), both in Frontlight as International Premieres, and COVER-UP (dirs. Laura Poitras, Mark Obenhaus) and LOVE+WAR (dirs. Chai Vasarhelyi, Jimmy Chin), both making their Dutch Premieres in Dead Angle: Institutions and Best of Fests, respectively.
In addition, WMM-supported films are part of IDFA’s Industry Programs. PA projects include DREAMS OF THE WILD OAKS (dir. Marjan Khosravi) and THE CORD (dir. Nolwenn Hervé), both in Rough Cut Presentations, while PA alum UNTITLED PETRA COSTA PROJECT (dir. Petra Costa) and THE WHITE DOCTOR (a new film directed by distribution filmmaker Zippy Kimundu, dir. of WMM new release WIDOW CHAMPION) will be presented in the Forum Pitch.
