Jo Ann Kaplan
Jo Ann Kaplan has edited and directed films and TV programmes since 1982, across a broad range of subjects and formats, including animation, dance, fiction and experimental films, as well as documentaries and arts programmes. Her work has been broadcast on Channel Four, the BBC, WNET (New York), Arte and other European outlets, and at film festivals world-wide.
Her directing work includes award-winning fiction short The Zip, starring Denis Lawson, a ground-breaking programme The Holy Family, written by Angela Carter, and two experimental films of unusual format and content, Story of I and An Anatomy of Melancholy. Editing work includes From a Classical Position, a film by Bill Forsythe and Dana Caspersen of Ballet Frankfurt, two animated films by Ruth Lingford, The Old Fools and Pleasures of War, and several documentaries by Mark Kidel, including Balthus the Painter.
