Marilu Mallet

Marilu Mallet directed her first films at the National Film Board of Canada. Her first fiction film, "Il N'y a Pas D'oubli," which she co-directed, was awarded a Special Mention in 1976 at the Locarno Festival. In 1983, Mallet directed "Journal Inachevé" (1983), an autobiographically based docu-fiction, which received the Prix de la Critique Québécoise, in Montréal, as well as the Jury's Special Award at the Festival de Biaritz, France. In 1988, Marilu was awarded the Guggenheim International Filmmaking Award. She has also directed "Mémoires d'une Enfant des Andes" (1985), which has received a Bronze Apple Award at the National Educational Film Festival and "Chère Amérique" (1991), which won the Prix du Meilleur Documentaire de Création awarded by the S.C.A.M., FIPA, Cannes, France. In 1996, she finished her short fiction film," Deux, Rue de la Mémoire". In 2001, she completed her documentary, "Double Portrait." In 2002 she shot "La Cueca Sola," which was released in 2004.

She has published two collections of short stories: "Les Compagnons de L'horloge Pointeuse" (1981), and "Miami Trip" (1986) as well as several magazine articles. (7/12)
