Silvia G. Ponzoda
Photographer and filmmaker Silvia Ponzoda was born in Alicante, Spain. In 2000, she concluded her studies in Photography and Sciences of Information in Barcelona, and started teaching photography and documentary in University of Alicante. There, she coordinated the First Exhibition of European University Documentaries of Alicante in 2006.
Besides working as a photographer for the newspaper La Verdad, Ponzoda has shown her photography in more than 20 solo and shared exhibitions in Spain and France. Between 2001 and 2003 she directed 5 short documentaries. Her TV credits include co-directing a show on Alicante's University Campus and directing Tele-Educacion, broadcasted live as a program of the Association of Latin-American Educational Television.
In 2001, Ponzodas's proposal for the documentary A WOMAN'S WORD was selected by the first edition of MEDEA (Mediterranean and European Programme of Audiovisual Development). The film has been screened in festivals in Asia, Cuba, Europe, the Middle-East and the US, where it won the jury award in San Diego Women Film Festival in 2006. (05/07)
