WMM classic A PLACE OF RAGE (dir. Pratibha Parmar) will screen as part of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture’s Black on Screen: Century of Radical Visual Culture series.
Join the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture on Tuesday, September 22, from 6:30–8:30 PM in New York, NY, for a screening of A PLACE OF RAGE (1991), a WMM release and Parmar’s award-winning documentary illuminating the contributions of Black women in the Civil Rights Movement through intimate interviews with trailblazing writers and leaders, including Angela Davis, June Jordan, Alice Walker, and Trinh T. Minh-ha. The film bridges Civil Rights-era organizing with contemporary discourses on Black power, feminism, and queer rights.
Following the screening, Parmar will be in conversation with Dr. Jaimee A. Swift of Black Women Radicals.
