CODED BIAS to air on Independent Lens on March 22

WMM’s highly acclaimed CODED BIAS (Dir. Shalini Kantayya) is coming to PBS’ Independent Lens Monday, March 22. Called “the most cleareyed of several recent documentaries about the perils of big tech” by the New York Times, and an “all-too-real Orwellian thriller” by The Hollywood Reporter, CODED BIAS reveals how many facial recognition technologies misclassify women and darker-skinned faces. The documentary follows MIT Media Lab computer scientist Joy Buolamwini, along with data scientists, mathematicians, and watchdog groups from all over the world, as they fight to expose the discrimination within algorithms now prevalent across all spheres of daily life.
