In a place where girls and sport rarely mix, THE GYMNASTS OF FISHERMAN COLONY is a coming-of-age documentary where joy, ambition, and quiet rebellion take root as three teenage girls carve out space for themselves, one somersault at a time.
SYNOPSIS
THE GYMNASTS OF FISHERMAN COLONY is an intimate coming-of-age documentary by three-time Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Habiba Nosheen. It follows three teenage girls in Pakistan, offering a rare portrait of girlhood, joy, and play on the margins of society. At its core, it is a story of hope and quiet defiance as their love of gymnastics collides with deeply rooted expectations of what girls can and cannot do. Straddling two different worlds, they push to make space for themselves through sport, resulting in a lyrical, deeply human portrait of girls who dare to dream.
