WMM Co-Presents Films at NewFest

The 33rd Annual New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival is back with a hybrid edition, and we are excited to co-present two films at this year’s festivals! Don’t miss 130+ new queer films, premieres and panels, both in theater in New York City and streaming at home anywhere in the United States, October 15-26.

Co-directed by WMM filmmaker Nneka Onuorah and Giselle Bailey, we are excited to co-present THE LEGEND OF THE UNDERGROUND, a new film is about a group of bold, non-conformist youth fighting against rampant LGBTQ+ discrimination in today’s Nigeria. Onuorah is the director of WMM’s THE SAME DIFFERENCE, which won the NewFest Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2015. THE LEGEND OF THE UNDERGROUND is streaming for free through the duration of the festival and will be playing in theater on October 23 at 4pm. Click here for more information on how to watch.

Adapted from Nella Larsen’s beloved 1929 novel, PASSING is a seductive and psychological drama by Rebecca Hall that explores the mutability of identity and just how easily a once unshakeable truth can unravel. PASSING will be playing in-theaters only on October 23 at 8pm. More information can be found here.
