Three Women Make Movies Filmmakers Among 2026 Chicken & Egg Award Recipients

Women Make Movies is thrilled to celebrate three of our filmmakers from both our programs among the recipients of the 2026 Chicken & Egg Award. Chicken & Egg Films announced $450,000 total in grants to six recipients, with each filmmaker receiving a $75,000 grant, which includes a $50,000 unrestricted career grant and $25,000 to be applied to a project during their award year. 

We are honored to count Zippy Kimundu, Amber Fares, and Ema Ryan Yamazaki among this year’s cohort. 

ZIPPY KIMUNDU 

Zippy Kimundu (she/her), director of new WMM release WIDOW CHAMPION, which premiered at Tribeca last year, is an award-winning Kenyan filmmaker with nearly two decades of global experience spanning more than 20 countries.  

AMBER FARES 

Amber Fares (she/her) is an award-winning documentary director, producer, and cinematographer based between New York and Canada. Her film COEXISTENCE, MY ASS!, made with the support of WMM’s Production Assistance Program, won a Special Jury Award at Sundance and was shortlisted for an Academy Award.  

EMA RYAN YAMAZAKI 

Program Alum Ema Ryan Yamazaki (she/her) is the director of INSTRUMENTS OF A BEATING HEART and editor of BLACK BOX DIARIES, both nominated for the Academy Awards in 2025.
